Day 3: A Song That Makes You Happy

This song makes me smile, dance, cheer, and laugh. I love it!

Everyone should listen to this song at least once a day. I do!

Day 2: Your LEAST favorite

This song actually makes me physically sick. It's not the song itself, it's the memories it brings with it. Something fairly bad happened to me when I was young and this song brings back those memories.

Weigh-in 26/04

Photobucket

In all honesty I was not expecting a loss this week. I had been really good until Sunday but I had been sick all week so very sedentary and I also got my time of the month last night which usually causes me to gain about 2-3lbs. To get on the scales at my meeting this morning and it show a 0.8lb loss I was really happy.

All my clothes are either too loose to wear or getting close to it. I don't have many in-between clothes, which kind of sucks! I don't want to spend money on stuff that's just going to get too big. What a problem to have huh?

Day 1: Your Favorite Song

Wow. That is really really hard. I have a lot of songs I really love but I am going with the song I have loved for the longest time. I loved this song when I was a little girl. I used to even pretend The Split Enz were my imaginary friends!

Easter

So it was Easter this past weekend and we spent Sunday at Billy's grandmothers house with his parents.

It was quite a warm day and I was still not feeling 100% but it was great seeing them all and hanging out. I adore his family so much and I love that we all live so close that we get to spend holidays together. It was sad being the first holiday without Pawpaw, but he was there in spirit.

Mawmaw and Debbie both went all out as usual with the food. I didn't eat too much but I did enjoy myself and didn't worry too much about my diet etc.

Here is what we had:

First we have devilled eggs, a staple at almost every family gathering. They are my favourite!

Potato salad:

Sweet potato casserole:

Green beans & corn:

Creamed (mashed) potatoes:

Country ham:

Beef noodles:

Then Banana Pudding for dessert:

I only had a small amount of everything and really enjoyed it. The banana pudding was so good!

After we ate, Billy & Steve hid the eggs so Ashley could find them. Here are a few photos:

Billy's parents put money in the eggs instead of candy which suited me just fine! He got enough candy that morning so he didn't need any more! All of them except 1 had quarters (25c) and 1 had a $1 bill.

It was a great day. I wish we could have stayed all day but Billy had to work. Luckily we all get to see each other again for Mother's Day.

Blah!

Sorry for the absence. I have been pretty sick the past week or so. I have bronchitis and have felt like death and not really felt up to blogging. I still don't feel great. Better than earlier in the week but I still get dizzy and lethargic every now and then. And this cough is driving me bonkers!

Plus today that monthly visitor came a week early! I usually have a very set cycle so this was a surprise. I am thinking it's because I have been sick, but who knows.

I have weigh in tomorrow and I am not expecting much at all. I have been tracking pretty much every day except yesterday and I don't think I went over much at all. We had Easter lunch at Billy's grandmothers house and I didn't eat much and what I did eat wasn't too bad. Plus I had all my daily points and 45 of my weeklies to use.

But I am thinking because I bloat up like a balloon during TOM that I will either have a very small loss, maintain or have a small gain. What ever happens I am not fussed. I would just like to feel human again!!

Hopefully this will be gone soon. I took my last anti-biotic today so I am hoping they have done their job.

I'll be posting about yesterday in a little while.

Comfort food

I mentioned in my food dairy about how I had been sick and wanting to eat just comfort food. So over the past few days I have been eating a little different than usual.

On Wednesday I wanted something hot for breakfast so I made some eggs on whole wheat muffins with ketchup! Yum!

I had been something in particular the past few days and for lunch I had it. I took one of these:

One of these:

And these:

Add them all together:

Roll it up:

This time I just ate it as is. But today I had one and put in in my sandwich press and it was so good!

Yesterday I went to the doctor and found out I had bronchitis, which I suspected. I felt so cruddy because I hadn't slept well and I was hungry so we went to Bojangles and I got this:

Sorry about the photo, I took it with my phone. I ate all of it except the biscuit. It was 22 points, but I hadn't eaten any like it since I started Weight Watchers in January and I have lost 20 lbs! So I think I deserved it! Plus I was sick!

So that has been my comfort eating the past few days. I haven't wanted cereal because I am all mucusy and milk just doesn't taste right.

Lemon Meringue dessert

I was browsing a great WW recipe website, Danica's Daily and I found a quick and easy recipe for a WW friendly dessert that was similar to a lemon meringue. Being a BIG fan of lemon meringue I swore I would try it. So today I got all the ingredients (all 3 of them) and made it for myself tonight. I am glad it was easy to make as I have the flu and have no energy what so ever.

What you need is:

1 low fat graham cracker (2 points). Crumble the cracker up into crumbs and put into a small bowl. Now I am not sure if my Aussie readers can get graham crackers there. But I am sure there is something else that would suffice. Even maybe a couple of milk arrowroot biscuits. I used these:

1/2 cup of 0% fat Greek yogurt (2 points). Place on top of cracker crumbs. I used this:

Lemon curd (1 tbs 3 points, 1 tsp 1 point). Use as little or as much of this as you like, just track it depending on how much you used. The original recipe only used 1 tsp where I used 1 tbs. I actually read it wrong but I love lemon so I was ok with it.

And voila you have a yummy, quick dessert. All up it was 7 points. Which is a little high and a piece of normal lemon meringue pie isn't much more than that, BUT you are getting dairy in with this, where you wouldn't with a normal LM pie. So it is much healthier. Also you could use less lemon curd.

Food Diary 19/04

Photobucket

Today was not a great day, food wise. I didn't go over my points but I also didn't make fantastic choices. But I am sick as a dog with the flu so I don't really care!

Breakfast:
1 x Banana - 0 points
16.9oz (500ml) water - 0 points
1 x Venti Skinny Caramel Latte - 4 points (2 dairy)

Lunch:
1 x Annie Chun's Soup bowl Udon - 3 points

Dinner:
120g wild salmon - 4 points
1/2 cup brown rice - 3 points
2 tsp olive oil - 2 points
steamed brussel sprouts - 0 points
pan fried mushrooms & cherry tomatoes - 0 points

Snack:
1 x Trader Joe's 100 calorie chocolate bar - 3 points
1 x Low fat honey graham cracker - 2 points
1/2 cup 0% fat greek yogurt - 2 points
1tbs lemon curd - 3 points
1 x WW Mini bar cookies & cream

What a junky day.

I did it!

Photobucket

I lost 1.4lb!!!!!!!!!!!! I made my 10% goal and then some! I was honestly not expecting to hit it this week. I was REALLY hoping I would but I try to be realistic so I don't feel let down.

You should have seen me after I weighed in! I was literally dancing on the spot!

So I got the fabled Keyring:

In all the years I have done Weight Watchers I have never gotten this far on the plan. I have lost lots of weight before but usually it's been due to stress or other factors. I am so proud of myself. You have no idea.

So in 15 weeks I have lost 20.2lb (9.1kg). Not bad!

Monday, April 18, 2011

Wish me luck!

I have weigh-in tomorrow and I am 1.2lb (540g) away from my 10% & 20lb loss goals. If I lose that tomorrow I get my keyring and another 5lb star! I would love to get that this week as I plan on using my 49 weekly points on Sunday at Easter lunch. I would hate not to lose enough then have to be really good all week. I find I lose less if I use my weekly points.

Also I am sick. I think I have the flu. Boooooo! Feel like crud.

So wish me luck tomorrow and hope this sickness goes away too!

Grilled ham & cheese

A couple of weeks ago I had a real hankering for a grilled ham & cheese sandwich. So I was brainstorming on how to make it so it wasn't too pointy. I came up with this which was not too high in points at all.

1 x Trader Joe's Whole Wheat pita bread - 3 points
1 x slice Food Lion sharp cheddar cheese -2 points
1 x wedge Laughing Cow Light Swiss - 1 point (you can actually have 2 wedges for 1 point but 1 wedge was plenty)
55g shaved ham - 1 point

Then I put it into my Crofton 3 in 1 grill with the grill plates on and grill it until it was ready.

I had it with a big bowl of 0 point salad. So 8 points in total. You could change it up to your liking, but this is how I like it and it was delish!

I got my grill at Aldi for like $20 or so and I love it. I can make toasted sandwiches, grilled sandwiches or even waffles if I want!

Cassie

I know you are all sick of weight loss posts all the time so I here are some recent photos of my kitty.

Isn't she gorgeous!!!

But anyway, I am stoked!

New colours

I have been messing around with the colours on here and just wanted to know what you all thought about it? Like or not?

I like having a black background as I think photos always look better on black, but please be honest and tell me if it's ok on the eyes. etc.

Thanks readers!!

New Mini Goals

My first mini goal was to get to 15lb lost by my birthday. Well I did that 1 week early. But I never set myself a new mini goal and so I thought I should really make one.

So I actually have 2. The first one is to get my 10% loss key ring. I have 3.2lbs (1.45kg) to lose to get to that. It would also be 20lb gone so I would get another 5lb star. I am giving myself 1 month to get to that goal.

The second goal is to be out of the obese BMI range. Currently my BMI is 31.6 so to get to 24.9 BMI I need to be 174lb and currently I am 184.2 so I have 10.2lb to lose to get there. I am giving myself until July 4th for this goal.

Now I know I can probably get to these goals much sooner than the time frame I have set, but I don't want to set myself up for a fall. If I have time to get there I won't freak out and crumble at the thought of "Oh my god I only have a week to do it, I quit!".

Also slow and steady wins the race! So wish me luck!

My list

On another blog I read, she had written a list of reasons why she wants to lose weight. So I thought I would do one too. Here goes.

  • Health. I am currently inside the "obese" BMI range so that scares me right there. Also I am 35 and I am starting to feel the affects of my weight more.
  • Family. My husband and son are both thin and look great. I feel out of place being with them. I also want to be around for them for a long time.
  • Vanity. I want to LOOK good. I know how good I can look. I was thin for most of my life. My 20's were a yo yo of weight. My 30's I have mostly been overweight. I will not be fat and forty!
  • Back pain. I know this extra weight is putting more strain and pressure on my back and it's getting worse and worse.
  • Clothes. I have so many nice clothes that are sitting in my closet being wasted. I love wearing nice clothes but rarely do it at the moment as I don't fit into them and I don't feel I deserve nice clothes at the size I am.
  • Shopping. Shopping for clothes is a nightmare when you are fat. It really is.
  • Baby. There is a small chance we may have a child in the future. I would love to be fit and healthy when I fall pregnant.
  • Self esteem. I have such little self esteem at the moment so I know getting to my ideal weight would make me feel better about myself.
  • Photographs. I hate being in front of the camera. I really do. But I also hate that I have hardly any photos of myself that I like that weren't taken by me.
That's all I can think of right now. If I think of more I might make another list.
